What started as a quest to raise $100,000 for breast cancer research has been embraced by the central Ohio Community so much that more than $15.4 million has been raised to support vital breast cancer research and patient assistance. The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research is devoted to advancing research in breast cancer. Over the past few years, the Fund has supported researchers and their efforts.
The Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research is devoted to advancing research in breast cancer. 100 percent of every gift to the fund goes directly to research at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James).
Currently, the most talented and experienced researchers in the world are working to find a cure at the OSUCCC – James. And these researchers carry with them Stefanie’s dream of a cancer-free world.
New and innovative drugs are being developed at the OSUCCC – James with the help of the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, breakthroughs in cancer treatments are being made and the goal of ending cancer is closer to reality.

“With each year, each month, and each day there are new breakthroughs and possibilities in the fight against cancer.” Those were my wife, Stefanie’s words and they have given me the strength and determination to carry on her dream of ending the terrible disease. I am grateful to each and every one of you for joining me in the continuing Stefanie’s legacy of hope. I am thrilled to announce that Spielman Fund reached $15.4 million in 2014. This is an outstanding achievement and it is because of generous support that we have reached this milestones.
Fortunately, I have been part of many great teams during my life and I am humbled to be a part of a team that will one day find a cure for cancer.

The model of Pelotonia remains simple: Pelotonia’s operating expenses are covered by funding partners so that 100% of every dollar raised by Pelotonia riders, virtual riders and volunteers goes directly to fund cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center—Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Pelotonia was initially funded with a five-year, $12.5 million commitment, with a goal to raise $39 million during this time period.
Stefanie’s Team of Hope is a community of people who have joined together to celebrate the life of Stefanie Spielman and to carry on her legacy of hope. Stefanie was a devoted wife and mother, a loving daughter, a loyal friend and a courageous breast cancer fighter. She embraced her battle as an opportunity to better the lives of others and provided hope for millions battling cancer. She did not allow cancer to define her life but instead chose to embrace life to the fullest. She was an amazing person and an inspiration to us all, she truly made the world a better place. We ride for Stefanie and all those affected by cancer!

THE SPIELMAN FAMILY FOUNDATION is affiliated with The Columbus Foundation. The Spielman Family Foundation supports a wide range of initiatives, programs, and nonprofit organizations in the community. The Spielman Family Foundation has provided grants totaling over $100,000 since its inception. The mission is to find a need and be able to support it.
